Parish of Saint Margaret

The Parish Church of Saint Margaret, Virgin and Martyr in Štinjan is a single-nave building with a sacristy

Štinjan was first mentioned in 1197 as the property of the Archbishop of Ravenna.

Since 1450, it has been recorded as a chaplaincy of Pula, and since 1701 as a parish with the right to propose a parish priest. The parish church was built in 1630. The bell tower, twenty meters high with two bells, was added to the church in 1935. The parish preserves an archive dating back to 1754. There is a local primary school up to the third grade. A bit further from the village lies the cemetery.

The main altar is made of stone and marble, featuring a tabernacle and a painting with the images of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Child, Saint Margaret, and a bishop. On the sides, there are wooden statues of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The church also contains a stone altar with a plaster statue of Saint Anthony of Padua, a built-in altar of Our Lady of Lourdes (1936), and a wooden altar facing the congregation. There is also a baptismal font and a holy water font. The church includes a choir loft. There are two tombs in the church floor (17th century). The church was renovated in the year 2000.
