Every evening at sunset, the giant cranes in the city center, located near the Arena and at the end of the waterfront begin to shine in a thousand colors. The ‘Lighting Giants’ standing on the small Uljanik island in the bay of Pula, are a unique attraction and new characteristic symbol of Pula created by Dean Skira, the world-famous lighting designer. Thanks to a sophisticated system of lighting, the cranes change colors in the evening and can be illuminated with as many as 16 thousand different color combinations.
The colors of the Lighting Giants are specially programmed for certain occasions and holidays, during the 2018 FIFA World Cup they proudly turned into red and white squares, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day they were lit green, and are specially illuminated for the Day of the City of Pula… Visitors can enjoy this magnificent spectacle of light every evening, from sunset until 10 pm, during the summer until midnight.
