A lecture by journalist Zvjezdan Strahinja – editor of the FB profile “Pula Štorija” about women on the margins of society – Istrian women in the maelstrom of Pula prostitution.
A young girl came to the city in search of a job and a better life, and after her plans failed, she was forced to engage in traffic in order to earn a living. Alone in an unknown and dangerous environment, she enters Minerva Street, which with its sharp edges only comes to life after dark. There he finds prostitutes, drunk and aggressive sailors and arsenalots, fishermen, thieves, swindlers… That’s how he becomes part of the Pula half-world.
(The story is a collage of authentic newspaper news from the period from 1890 to 1910 and urban legends)
