Indonesian Days in Pula is a two-day cultural event taking place on 14 and 15 May 2026, bringing a rich programme dedicated to presenting Indonesian art, traditions, and contemporary culture.
The event is organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Croatia, in cooperation with the Pula Tourist Board.
This two-day cultural programme is dedicated to showcasing Indonesia’s rich artistic heritage, traditions, dance, film, and multimedia.
The programme will take place at several locations across Pula: the ECPD – European Center for Peace and Development, Forum Square, and Kino Valli, offering citizens and visitors a unique opportunity to experience both contemporary and traditional Indonesian culture.
The event begins on Thursday, 14 May, at 10:00 a.m., with the opening of a multimedia exhibition and an exhibition of traditional Indonesian batik at the ECPD venue. The official exhibition opening ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the same day. Batik, the traditional wax-resist fabric dyeing technique, is part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, and through the exhibition and presentation, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about its importance in everyday Indonesian life and culture.
The official opening will feature an address by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, along with the presentation of participating artists and the event programme. The evening programme at Forum Square will include captivating performances of traditional Indonesian dances, including Yapong and a dance from Kalimantan, as well as the programme “How to Wear Batik”, during which artist Avy will present the fusion of traditional and contemporary Indonesian fashion through fashion showcases and video projections.
On the second day of the event, Friday, 15 May, the focus will shift to educational and interactive content. Visitors will be able to participate in guided expert tours of the exhibitions.
Workshops have also been organised: a batik workshop for the Pula School of Applied Arts and Design, a multimedia workshop in cooperation with the Sonitus Association, organiser of the Visala Festival, and a traditional Indonesian dance workshop for members of the Saltatrix Dance Studio.
The event will conclude with a free screening of the award-winning film “Monisme” by director Riar Rizaldi at Kino Valli, starting at 7:00 p.m. The film presents a case study of ecological disruption, centred around Indonesia’s most active volcano, Mount Merapi.
We invite all citizens to visit “Indonesian Days” and discover the richness of Indonesian culture.
