At the press conference held on 23 April 2024 in the premises of the Tourism Office of the City of Pula, the 6th Pula Marathon sports event was announced.
Pula Tourism Office, in collaboration with AC Maraton 2000 and ISTRun, is the main sponsor of the 6th Pula Marathon under the auspices of the City of Pula and race partner Arena Hospitality Group.
The media representatives were addressed by Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj, Director of Pula Tourism Office, Ivana Sokolov, Head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities, Youth and Sports of the City of Pula, Robert Franjković from AC Maraton 2000 and Andrea Petrić on behalf of Arena Hospitality Group.
In her opening words, the Director of Pula Tourism Office, Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj, announced the two-day sports event, which will take place on 20 and 21 September 2024. Five years in, a new and visually more modern event has been designed, and just as in previous years, at the same time the Visualia festival will be held with its amazing light installations, resulting in a unique atmosphere for all runners as well as the audience. The event has been growing year after year, and we are especially happy about that, because the city is promoted through the race, which is visible in the ever growing number of foreign visitors who come specifically for the race, said Cinkopan Korotaj.
Robert Franjković from AC Maraton 2000 pointed out that the start of the kids races is on Friday, 20 September, at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Arena, while the main races are scheduled for the following day, 21 September, starting at 8:00 p.m., with intervals by categories of 5, 10 and 21 km. Starting today, early registrations open at the official website.
This year the organizers will provide a rich start package for all runners when they collect their race numbers. Last year, there were a total of 1,500 registered runners, with more than half of the registered runners coming from the neighbouring countries, which delights us and proves how attractive the races are. Our wish this year is to reach the number of 2,000 runners in all three categories, Franjković pointed out.
Andrea Petrić spoke on behalf of Arena Hospitality Group, the partner of the event, and expressed his satisfaction that the Pula Marathon event has established itself as one of the greatest sports events in the city. He pointed out the unique setting and the appeal of all the races, highlighting the races for the youngest, which will be held on Friday, 20 September 2024. While stating that the policy of the Arena Hospitality Group is to be socially responsible, especially towards children, he announced that the children’s part of the Pula Marathon brings a lot of fun, sports, music and special prizes along with the animation of AHG.
Finally, on behalf of the sponsor, the City of Pula, Ivana Sokolov, Head of the City’s Administrative Department for Social Activities, Youth and Sports, congratulated the organizers on previous races and spoke about the kids races organized as part of the Pula Marathon. Last year there were about 200 children, while this year we expect an even larger number of the youngest runners. Children can be signed up at the very start of the kids races on 20 September.
With this event, we encourage children to play sports from a young age and learn the importance of a culture of movement. Apart from the youngest, all race participants and the audience will be able to enjoy an after party with a DJ scheduled for Saturday, 21 September, after the announcement of the winners of the main races, from 10:00 pm to midnight at the Arena. At the end of the press conference, Ivana Sokolov invited everyone to come and take part in this unique sports event.
