The Young Man Who Wanted to Dance the Waltz

A thematic tour that, through interpretation, brings to life the characters and spaces of Pula during the Austro-Hungarian period, from 1856 to 1914. Throughout the tour and its designated stopping points, a new ‘story’ will unfold — a collective creation in which each participant contributes their own thoughts and experiences, offering a unique perception and experience through a new form of intercultural communication.

This tour also incorporates the method of storytelling, building contrasts and provoking shifts in perspective. The year is 1913, from which we observe Pula during the Austro-Hungarian era.

Through techniques such as deconstruction, storytelling, and living history, along with selected musical and dance performances at various stops, participants will also engage their sense of smell — the deepest root of emotional memory — through specially crafted scents that contrast with the historical atmosphere of certain locations. These sensory elements invite memory and evoke a journey back to Pula’s past.

The interactive guidance of participants — tourists — through the vibration of rhythm and scent can also be seen as a form of connection and celebration of unity, encouraging dialogue, partnership, and the creation of new visions, free from conventions and stereotypes.
