Er wurde zwischen 2. und 14. Jahr v. Ch., als Augustus starb, gebaut. Seiner Form nach ist er eine der typischen Tempelkonstruktion. Die Funktion des Tempels \u00e4nderte sich: am Ende der polytheistischen Antike endet auch seine Hauptfunktion. Er wurde eine Kirche, sp\u00e4ter auch ein Getreidesilo und am Anfang des 19.Jh. war hier das Museum der Steindenkm\u00e4ler. Im Jahr 1944 wurde er w\u00e4hrend einer Bombardierung fast v\u00f6llig zerst\u00f6rt. Von 1945 bis 1947 wurde er rekonstruiert und heutzutage ist hier eine kleinere Ausstellung der antiken Stein- und Bronzestatuen.
