10th Pula Carnival

Carnival fever is heading toward its peak, and Pula is preparing for the most important masquerade event of the year – its traditional Grand Carnival Parade of masked groups through the city center. The Carnival Parade will take place on Saturday, February 7, starting at 2:00 PM.

Numerous masked groups will gather at Karolina, below the Arena, and shortly before noon will set off for their first presentation, which will take place in front of the Arena. Afterwards, the groups will proceed one after another toward Portarata for their second presentation, entertaining and delighting the many citizens along the route with lively animations. After all groups have passed and a short stop at Portarata, a large joint gathering will follow at the Croatian Veterans’ Home with the band Anelidi, starting at 5:00 PM. Both young and old revelers eager for fun and dancing are welcome.

This will also serve as an overture to the end of this year’s carnival festivities, which will conclude on February 17 with a Carnival brunch with local artisans at the Pula Market from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the traditional burning of Pust – the culprit blamed for all the misfortunes of the past year – who will “pay” after the pronouncement of the “sentence,” beginning at 7:00 PM in the Mandrač parking lot.
